Chapter 4 Reading the Results — What the Numbers Mean, and What They Don't

The question After I press Calculate, what do the numbers and charts mean — and what don't they mean?

The answer The result says: "Under the assumptions you chose, spending this much keeps the money lasting to this age." It comes as a range across three assumption sets, every number carries the inputs, assumptions and rules behind it, and what was left out is listed on the same screen. It is not a guarantee and not advice.

4.0 In one line Result = inputs + assumptions + rules. Read the small print and "Left out of the calculation" before the big number.
